The Scalloped Coffee Table, White Marble
Cut to order in Tivoli. Six weeks from quarry to your floor. White-glove delivery included.
The scalloped edge is one of the oldest carved decorative techniques in stone architecture. Applied here to the full perimeter of a coffee table top, it transforms a flat horizontal plane into something that invites touch before it invites use.
The top is Bianco Carrara marble — white ground with faint grey veining from the Apuan Alps. The scalloping is carved into the perimeter: a series of concave arcs running the full circumference. In direct light, each arc creates a shadow that brings the edge to life. The four sphere legs beneath are an ironic formal counterpoint: pure geometry against ornamental surface.
This is the only piece in the Tobia Stones collection where the surface treatment is the primary gesture. Everything else is the stone's nature. Here, the carving is the conversation.
