Calacatta Noir is quarried in the mountains of Carrara, Italy. A marble of extreme contrast, jet black ground, crossed by white and grey veining. Each slab unrepeatable.

The block is sawn. Sides left rough, bearing the trace of the tool. Top surface sanded matte, smooth enough to hold a glass, present enough for a hand.

Why Tobia Stones

Quarried, not sourcedEach block is selected at the active quarries above Carrara, not from a distributor's inventory.
The veining is the recordCalacatta Noir has no pores — it is a closed, crystalline surface, which is why it takes a deeper polish and resists staining better than travertine. The veining is the record of its formation.
Specified, not decoratedThis is not decorative stone applied to a frame. A solid block occupies a room differently from furniture: it is placed once, and it stays where it is put.

Common questions

A stone-look table is a thin skin bonded to board: the pattern stops at the edge. Here the veining continues through the cut face, because the face is the stone itself.

Document any damage on delivery with photographs and notify us within 48 hours. We will arrange a full replacement at no cost to you. Every piece is individually crated and fully insured in transit.

Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of confirmation for a full refund, no fee. After that, cutting begins against a specific block. Once delivered, you may still return the piece within 14 days if it is unused and repacked in its original crate: return freight is at your expense, typically $300 to $500, and a 25% restocking fee applies.

Each piece is cut to order from the active quarry above Carrara, shaped by stonemasons, and shipped directly to you. There is no warehouse inventory. The wait is the cost of the thing being made for you specifically.
