The Travertine Drum Coffee Table, Pedestal Form
Cut to order in Tivoli. Six weeks from quarry to your floor. White-glove delivery included.
The mushroom form is one of stone's most ancient geometric impulses. Before it was furniture, it was a column. Before it was a column, it was a formation.
The Drum Coffee Table is carved from a single block of Roman travertine where possible. The drum top rests on a single pedestal that widens gradually toward the base — the structural logic of a capital reversed. Natural pitting remains open on the pedestal surface. On the honed top, the surface is smooth, the warmth of the stone is more immediate.
Travertine from Tivoli carries a colour memory of the thermal springs where it formed. The ivory and caramel tones are not applied. They are mineral. In morning light from a low window, the pedestal base casts a shadow that makes the top appear to float.
A living room built around this table will have something to come back to.
